Same Name, but Different Social On Credit Report

A consumer was referred to InCreditable Advisors because he tried to get financing for a car. However, when the dealership pulled a credit report, they noticed he had numerous of unpaid bills and a low credit score because of the negative items on his credit profile. The consumer desperately got a copy of his credit reports and noticed a lot of collection accounts that were in fact listed on his credit reports as unpaid. Nevertheless, they were not his, but belonged to his son, Jr., Senior did not have any accounts in collections and unfortunately, these inaccuracies had a negative effect on his credit score.
In view of the fact that the son is “Jr.” it was easy to see why so many accounts were listed incorrectly on Sr.’s credit profile. Although their addresses, date of birth, and social security numbers were different, many creditors utilize the name as an initial point of reference. Once we were able to gather all the correct documentation to demonstrate the misreporting of information. We drafted dispute letters on behalf of Senior, to Trans Union and requested that they delete 12 accounts from his credit profile; we did the same for Experian, as they deleted 22 accounts and so did Equifax as they deleted 8 accounts from our clients’ credit profile.
With the proof provided of the difference in the names, social security number, date of birth, and address. Each account that was incorrectly listed were deleted from senior’s credit profile and correctly added to the correct credit profile.
Result: InCreditable Advisors was able to help senior increase his credit score by an average 150 points plus on all three major credit bureaus Experian, Equifax and TransUnion within 60 days and our client was now able to go buy his new car, at a great rate.
