So that brings us to the question:
How can you best help yourself with the best credit improvement strategies possible?
The first thing you can do is make sure the information you get is reliable and up to date. In the last 5 years, countless credit repair “gurus” have sprung up selling everything from $7 eBooks to $500 courses. At best, the majority of these just re-use the same information that has been covered over and over. At worst, they are plagiarized rip-offs, or even worse yet, are loaded with illegal tactics (such as CPN numbers) and false information that could leave you worse off than when you started.
We’ve been in this business over 14 years and we’ve learned that the best and most effective approach to credit improvement is both honest and legal. Based on this sense of ethics, we’ve developed powerful techniques that aren’t found anywhere else in Indianapolis, Indiana (though copycats and plagiarizers do exist!)
The second thing you can do if you plan to do your own credit improvement is to make sure you have a good source for help and support.
Years ago, we used to sell a “credit repair book” just like everyone else. We soon realized that to be successful, consumers needed hands-on support to help them apply the credit improvement information they were learning. It was from this realization that InCreditable Advisors eventually came to be.
We offer cutting edge information WITH the support that consumers need to work through the maze of the credit improvement process.
The third thing you can do to help yourself with your credit improvement is to NEVER use “canned” or pre-written template dispute letters or dispute online (because you want a paper trail for your records). These letters used to be great… they saved time, they helped people who weren’t good at writing to get the job done, and they WORKED.
Things have changed now, though.
Now the bureaus are using OCR technology to compare every letter they receive against hundreds of thousands of letters that they have already received and scanned. If they find the letter to be a canned or pre-written letter that they’ve received thousands of times, they can deem it to be “frivolous”.
Guess what that means for all those canned pre-written dispute letters out there? Frivolous! A response used by the credit bureaus for using pre-written letters and templates. Or another stall tactic letter reply to get you to give up the fight towards bettering your credit.
Remember, the credit bureaus clients are “the banks” and “banks” do not make money from consumers with “healthy credit scores”, they make “LOTS” of money from consumers with “unhealthy credit scores”. Ask yourself this question, does hospitals generate more money treating “healthy” people or “unhealthy” people?
There are, of course, ways around OCR technology like hand writing your disputes, using cursive writing and unusual colors of ink to name a few. You can also use a tool like the “Custom Dispute Generator” from the InCreditable Advisors Intelligence System to generate unique disputes to send to the credit bureaus.
The credit bureaus are already notorious for ignoring disputes and giving consumers the run around. The system is already heavily slanted in favor of the bureaus and the banks.
